JG Engineering where working on behalf of D Morgan PLC a major infrastructure and developments civil engineering contractor. Northern Gateway roads 2 and 3 consisted of the construction of two large spine roads on behalf of The Welsh Government. JG Engineering were involved in all aspects of the surveying and setting out for the works.The works involved putting in site control by means of a full traverse of the full length of works and initial topographical survey of the working area. A large site compound was constructed and then the full working area was stripped of topsoil and stored off plot. 30,000m3 of Class 1A fill material were then imported into site by road wagon and large swales were formed down the side of the road to control site run off. 9 separate box culvert sections were installed under each bellmouth totaling 220 linear meters of culverts. Once completed the road construction of two roads, one roundabout and 9 bellmouths were constructed along with a service corridor for utilities.
